This week on Instagram, Givenchy creative director Matthew Williams posted a single image of what appears to be several variations of hardware he's exploring for future clothing collections.
Colorf-faded metals merge with lacquer to form playful shapes that could bring a whole new vibe to what has been a more industrial and brutalist approach to the designer's past work.
Here's what Matthew Williams had to say about the WIP:
Sharing the beginnings of some recent hardware finish developments in work that I want to expand on in terms of materiality and color in the future…I am enjoying experimenting with anodized metal color fading and merging into lacquer. The organic feeling of the lacquer against the strict metal edges has a nice tension and I love how it makes the metal feel touched by a human and not spit out of a machine. So many wonderful tones and textures created on one piece. 💫💛🌟
